Concrete Repair & Protection
At Structural Renovations we are committed to providing concrete repairs and protection across a wide variety of structures, and pride ourselves on our level of care and workmanship.
With a solid reputation, the team have worked on a multitude of projects, including iconic Brutalist buildings and landmarks, schools and university buildings, churches, blocks of flats and private residences, council buildings and structures.
Concrete Repairs & Protection.
Whether it’s planned or reactive maintenance or refurbishment, Structural Renovations have expertise in both modern, and heritage and conservation structures - and can offer concrete repair techniques, including hand applied, sprayed, flowable and resin injection, as well as specialist coatings including anti-carbonation, impregnation and sealers, from a range of access methods and techniques.
Remediation techniques applied are tailored to suit each structure's unique requirements, our areas of expertise include:
Surface Preparation.
Correct surface preparation is the key to successful coatings. Structural Renovations are able to remove existing coatings, clean existing surfaces, and prepare concrete substrates for subsequent applications. Techniques include grit and dry ice blasting, water jetting, floor planing and scabbling.
Concrete Repair.
Working alongside all major specialist material manufacturers; Ardex, Flexcrete, Fosroc, Mapei, Proteus, Remmers, Ronacrete, Sika, & Weber, Structural Renovations are experienced in offering various concrete repair techniques, including hand applied, sprayed, flowable and resin injection.
Electrochemical Solutions.
In areas adjacent to newly repaired concrete, sacrificial anodes can be incorporated into the repairs, preventing the formation of new corrosion to the existing reinforcement.
Zinc cores, once connected to the reinforcement, provide “anodic protection”corroding preferentially to the surrounding reinforcement, providing and preventing incipient anode formation. Where there is a risk of further deterioration to the structure, linked anodes can be drilled and grouted in chains. Impressed current, and other specialist systems are also available.
Electrochemical solutions require an initial survey, and accurate diagnosis to ensure the structure's problem can be solved with any of these specialist systems.
Protective Coatings.
Not only do protective coatings future-proof structures against carbonation and chloride attack, levelling mortars and coatings give buildings an aesthetically pleasing finish too. Be it brush, roller, or an airless spray, the techniques for application are dependent on a project's location, and quantities required.
Corrosion Control.
The use of liquid applied, and drilled in corrosion inhibitors / anodic protection within a remedial programme, provides our clients’ with accurate cost forecasts. Not only can this method reduce the volume of repair work required, it also provides protection to the reinforcement from possible latent corrosion.
Joint Sealing.
Whether it’s reinstating deck movement joints, precast panel joint replacement, or window surrounds, the Structural Renovations team have a wealth of experience in carrying out a wide range of joint sealant applications.
