Guildford Lido
Working with a Principal Contractor with who we have finished several previous projects over a number of years, Structural Renovations Limited have recently completed works at the Guildford Lido. The lido was constructed and opened in 1933 and is owned but Guildford Borough Council.
Our works were concerned with stabilising cracked masonry and render on the main entrance block, using a variety of techniques.
Various sections of render were carefully removed to expose the blockwork and brickwork beneath. Significant vertical cracking had occurred throughout the structure and where present this was stitched at regular centres, using Helifix HeliBar, secured in a 2 part epoxy/cementitious grout.
In certain locations, externally fixed galvanised steel straps were plugged and screwed across the cracks, into the masonry.
In addition to the above works all cracks were resin injected, using a 2 part epoxy material, to restore the structural integrity within the cracked masonry. Following the installation of the masonry stabilisation, all previously removed render was replaced to original surface level, to allow for full redecoration.
