We are nearing completion of a large water-proofing project within the basement of a former restaurant.

The works at Great Portland Street, in the West End of London involve the removal of all existing failed waterproofing to the internal faces of the brickwork retaining walls and soffits, followed by the application of a polymer modified cementitious waterproof render. The works also require us to reinforce all junctions of walls and floors, to accommodate any future movement at these weak points. All structural steelwork has also been prepared and treated with a cementitious epoxy coating.

The works have been carefully planned around the replacement of the original pavement lights and smoke vents, which have been allowing water to enter the basement over a number of years, leading to significant damage in the sub-terranean areas of the building.

This waterproofing scheme is one of a number of projects that Structural Renovations Limited have completed for the Langham Estate, who own and manage a substantial amount of property in the area.
