Huttons Hotel
Structural Renovations have recently completed the external refurbishment of Huttons Hotel on Belgrave Road in London, SE1. Huttons Hotel is converted from Victorian town houses and is situated approximately 1 mile from Buckingham Palace.
Our works involved full refurbishment to the main entrance portico which was constructed in the mid 1940’s. We erected protective scaffold outside of normal working hours, to provide access to the roof, which was stripped and re-laid with new asphalt and flashings.
The structure itself was in a very poor state of repair and required temporary propping, whilst structural repairs were completed, using a high strength polymer modified mortar, recessed to within 25mm of the surface.
The detail work to the columns and beams had to be replicated in both colour and profile and was completed using a restoration mortar, which was carefully carved and sculpted to mimic the original finishes.
Our works also included the installation of corrosion control, using vapour phase inhibiting capsules, drilled into the structure at regular centres.
All rainwater goods were cleaned, primed and treated.
The works were finished ahead of programme and within the agreed budget.
